Should Your Printed Project Be Mounted or Laminated?

Should Your Printed Project Be Mounted or Laminated?

You’ve already put the work into your latest printed project – all that remains is to put it on display. When you’re getting ready to present your work, you may be wondering whether you should mount it or laminate it. Here’s the difference between the two and how to choose the best option for your project.

Mounting

The mounting process involves a graphic being mounted on a separate surface. Your project can be applied to materials like foam board or gator board.

Mounting is especially useful for business or school presentations, although it can also be used for decorative applications like posters. Generally, a project should be mounted if it is meant to be put on display, i.e. during a presentation or on a wall.

Laminating

Laminating refers to the process of covering a document in a thin layer of plastic in order to protect the material from damage and provide a more polished final look. You can choose whether you would prefer a glossy or matte finish, depending on the nature of your project. The laminating process can be completed using either hot or cold laminators. Your printing expert at Reproductions, Inc. can advise you on the ideal method for your needs.

Laminating is usually recommended for projects that will be handled often, such as business proposals, photo albums, or brochures, as it will protect the pages from wear and tear. However, laminating can be used to add a professional edge to any project.
